Saying Goodbye

Yesterday turned in to a lazy day. I did get the guest room cleaned up but not much else got done. We were tired from go, go, go. We hit stop, stop, stop.

Saying goodbye to Jill.

Getting into the car.

005

In the car.

007

Heading to Jasper for two days.

009

The bedroom is cleaned ready for them to visit again.

012

Today we are heading into town to do a bit of shopping. I need to go to Fabricland for some Fray Check, Staples to get the wireless printer, and then buy some groceries. I don’t know if I will get into the sewing room but if I do, I will finish up the sleeves and insert them into the body of the lining. We will see how it goes.

Until tomorrow……………………..

D Day

It is D day. Departure Day for our son and his family. It certainly will be quiet when they are gone. We are certainly going to miss them a lot.

060

Judith, the Fraser and Thompson Rivers meet in Lytton, BC. You have to go into the town; we went in the from the north end. We headed down and parked in a small parking lot at the start of the river and then walked across the bridge taking pictures as we went along.

Yesterday was a warm day so we started off the day with painting a birdhouse. We worked on it over the day until it was finished.

After lunch, we went for a short drive to the vegetable ranch and got a ride on the tractor.

004

And The Dude got to drive it by himself.

006

Afterwards we watched the crew unload bins of tomatoes with forklifts and load a semi with cases of vegetables (eggplants to be sure).

As it was hot, the electronics were put away and water was turned on. With Auntie and Uncle here for a visit, we had a lot of good laughs.

Today is house cleaning day and then I may get into the sewing room for a bit. Tomorrow is going to the city and Sunday is canning peaches. I may get the jacket done by Sunday night.

Until tomorrow……………………

A Round Trip

Today is our last day with our son and family. We are sure going to miss them a lot. We have had lots of good times and laughs.

Yesterday we did an all day drive going south, then north, then east and back home. It was a lot of fun though there are some “interesting” sections of road.

We stopped about an hour down the road at a picnic site. We wandered around as we took the dog with us.

004

We looked at the river and the trains and it was a lot of fun for The Dude.

039

There was a work train loading gravel and we watched it for a bit.

011

When it was time to have our picnic lunch, a family of hornets moved in and we fled to the car and ate in there.

After we ate, we headed to see where the Thompson and Fraser Rivers meet. Yes, the clean Thompson meets the dirty Fraser River.

061

And a close up of the meeting of the rivers.

064

We travelled in a valley between mountain ranges. It was a glorious trip though the road was twisty and single lane in one spot.

When we got to the last community, we stopped for a bit of a break. At the train station we saw the train which runs locally.

077

This train takes school children to and from school daily and is available for anyone to use. There are regular trains that go through this station on their way to Dawson Creek, BC.

We were happy to get home after an exciting day. Jill was happy to get out too.

080

She is such a trooper to sit in the very back with The Dude.

Until tomorrow when I hope to get into the sewing room for a couple of hours.

Doing What You Got To Do

It is cool this morning and I put on a jacket. The first morning in a very, very long time. The house has all the windows open and is airing out. We are not suppose to have it hot today so it will be perfect for canning peaches.

The Spousal Unit and The Dude worked on making an biplane from a kit. It certainly was a lot of work.

006

And you got to do what you got to do to dry the paint.

007

And the end product.

011

Until the next time……………………

Fun Days

We have had an amazing two days. The weather has cooperated and the temperatures have been perfect. And for the Dude, the Spousal Unit came home on Saturday night and was here yesterday for the fun.

Saturday was a busy day. First off, the potatoes had to be dug and scrubbed clean for Sunday night’s supper.

Potatoes

We headed out to Desert Hills Farm and had lunch. We learned how to find ripe watermelons. These watermelons are grown about a mile out of town. The hat says the watermelon is ripe. Admired the indoor pond, better known as a puddle. And fed the goats.

At Porters

After supper, we headed out to the pool to go swimming. The Dude loved the slide and spent a lot of time on it. And splashed into the water again and again and again.

The Pool

Yesterday, was horseback riding. It was a blast and, between Daughter and the Spousal Unit he learned how to spur out on the horse. Then the horses had to be fed and the Dude showed muscle power.

Horseback Riding

We ended up the day with friends coming for supper and that included a friend to play with.

Until the next time…………………….

Family Fun

Cooling off is slow coming to our neck of the woods. You think it is and then it isn’t. Our highs are remaining in the 32C range and better. Maybe it will cool over before Thanksgiving!! Yes, I have experienced eating Canadian Thanksgiving outside.

We have a visitor in the garden. I took 8 pictures of this spider and only this one turned out.

007

It hasn’t moved from that location for 3 or 4 days now so I am assuming it is getting a lot to eat.

Our son and his family arrived yesterday afternoon. We were busy getting them moved in, then had to get a couple of things from the store and have supper. After that was cleaned up we headed out to the park for play time.

IMG_1946

Jacob had a ball playing with the shovel digger. It met another boy (grandson of a friend) and they played on the equipment. Then back to the shovel digger.

IMG_1947

I am sure he is trying to dig to China. Then our son decided he would help.

IMG_1948

And Jacob is watching to see if they can see China. We headed home and put one sleepy boy to bed. Hopefully his blood sugars were good at 10 p.m.

Today I am assuming we will be having a busy day with Jacob. I have been busy this morning with Elliott. He is noisy and whiny. He knows his boundaries but decided that he could do his own thing this morning and was out looking around. I picked him up, spanked him, and it didn’t help. After a couple of threats, he decided to behave, though the picture of him giving me the evil eye won’t show up in my photostream.

Until tomorrow…………….
